Digital Ukrainian War Refugee Permits Will Also Show The Holder’s Photo
Smart devices will display the holder’s photo when scanning and verifying digital temporary residence permits held by Ukrainian war refugees under temporary protection in Lithuania.
Such permits were issued at the beginning of this year to people who fled Ukraine because of the conflict. They replaced the previously used plastic cards. War refugees can print or download them in PDF format to their smart devices.
The form contains a photograph of the holder, their main details, and a special note indicating the article of the Law on the Legal Status of Foreigners based on which the temporary protection was granted and the document was issued.
If Ukrainians need to apply for certain services or otherwise need to prove their legal status in Lithuania, they can check the validity of their digital permit at www.migracija.lt/e-permit using any smart device with a video camera and a mobile internet connection — just scan the QR code on the form.
While the validity of the document and the foreigner’s personal details used to be displayed on the screen of the smart device, the improvement will now allow the checker to see the owner’s photo.
Currently, there are almost 51,000 Ukrainian war refugees in Lithuania benefiting from the European Union’s temporary protection mechanism. It has been extended for another year, until March 2025, and the Migration Department plans to modify the permits held by war refugees soon.
