International sanctions
The Migration Department ensures the implementation of restrictions on the entry into the Republic of Lithuania or transit through its territory of persons subject to international sanctions.
Migration department includes the specified persons in the national list of foreigners who are prohibited from entering the Republic of Lithuania within 4 working days of the date of publication in the Official Journal of the European Union of European Union legislation imposing sanctions on restrictions on the movement of persons or on transit through their territory or the date on which the Ministry of Foreign Affairs provides information on the adoption of a United Nations Security Council resolution imposing sanctions on restrictions on the movement of persons or on transit through the territory of the States.
The Migration Department shall also decide on the granting of exemptions or permits not to apply restrictions on entry into or transit through the territory of the Republic of Lithuania and the obligations specified in the legal acts establishing international sanctions and shall perform all necessary procedures for that purpose.
Requests for exemption or permission not to apply restrictions and obligations to enter or transit through the territory of the Republic of Lithuania imposed by international sanctions (hereinafter referred to as the request) may be submitted to the Migration Department by entities subject to international sanctions and other interested persons (the application shall be accompanied by documents proving the factual and legal circumstances specified in the application, which shall be considered an integral part of the application).
The application is submitted to the Migration Department directly, by registered mail or by electronic means by e-mail [email protected]. As this request concerns personal data, the identity of the requesting person must be confirmed, which, depending on the method of access, can be confirmed as follows:
- when applying directly to the Migration Department, by presenting a valid identity document;
- where the application is sent by post, with a copy of the identity document of the applicant;
- applications submitted by electronic means must be signed with a valid qualified electronic signature.
