Data Protection Officer

Elina Petrauskaitė has been appointed Data Protection Officer of the Migration Department under the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Lithuania.

The main duty of the Data Protection Officer of the Migration Department under the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Lithuania is to provide conditions to comply with the Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, and repealing Directive 95/46/EC (General Data Protection Regulation), promoting a data protection culture in the organisation and contributing to the implementation of essential elements of the General Data Protection Regulation, such as data processing principles, rights of the data subjects, customised and standardised data protection, as well as recording of processing activities, ensuring the security of data processing and reporting data security breaches. 

Persons (data subjects) may address the Data Protection Officer on any issues related to the processing of their personal data and the exercise of their rights in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation. The Data Protection Officer must ensure the secrecy or confidentiality in relation to the performance of her tasks in compliance with the law of the European Union or the Member State.
