Project No. 10.1.3-ESFA-V-918-01-0003 ‘Effective Management of Migration Processes’

In cooperation with the Police Department, the Migration Department, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Identity Documents Personalisation Centre, the Information Technology and Communications Department, the State Border Guard Service and the PI Centre of Registers have been implementing the project No. 10.1.3-ESFA-V-918-01-0003 ‘Effective Management of Migration Processes’, funded from the European Social Fund, the purpose of which is to develop an internal portal for the Lithuanian migration information system (hereinafter – MIGRIS).

By implementing this project, the Migration Department has set a goal to improve the quality of the migration services and ensure public satisfaction by increasing the efficiency of the processes of responsible institutions. Creating MIGRIS will shorten the time needed to provide migration services by refusing some of the manual work, introducing automated search, data entering and checking, standard document forms, generating statistic reports and implementing unified and centralised data storage solutions. Establishing integrative interfaces with other information systems or registers will reduce the number of documents that applicants need to submit, because institutions will be able to exchange the documents they have. Refusing manual operations, data entering and document preparation will reduce the number of human errors. Introducing MIGRIS will put all institutions, working in the field of migration, on the same level as private companies, using modern information technology.

This project will strengthen the competence of the employees, working at the Migration Department and the project partners, who will be trained to use the technological equipment, needed for the implementation of the migration procedures using MIGRIS.
